News and Updates

There is a new transportation service in Pierce County on the Key Peninsula.

"The Key Peninsula School Bus Connection" offer free transportation one day week. This service utilizes school buses during off hours and provides free transportation from as far south as the Evergreen elementary school all way to the northern tip of the peninsula at the Pierce Transit Purdy Park Ride, and back. See the attached "Riders Guide" for maps of the routes and schedules of stops.

This program is sponsored by The Mustard Seed Project, the Key Peninsula School District, and the Puget Sound Educational Service District. Initially this program will provide free "Tuesday Trips To Town." If there is sufficient ridership, the service may expand.

For details, call the Key Senior Information Center at The Mustard Seed Project - 253-884-9814. For more information on The Mustard Seed Project go to: http://www.themustardseedproject.org/

Coordinated Plan

The PCCTC is in the process of updating the Pierce County Coordinated Public Transit-Human Services Plan.

One of the most important components of this transportation plan is the identification of service needs and gaps. Your perspective on this is vital.

The needs assessment provides the basis for recognizing where and how service for the region's transit-dependent population needs to be improved.

The workshop will be a fast-paced and energizing exercise that will form the basis of the plan's recommendations for funding transportation services.

SURVEYS: You may also provide information by completing a Program Profile Survey or a Transportation Survey. Feel free to download and distribute these surveys for others to complete. Please return all surveys to Penny O'Connell at poconne@.pierce.wa.us.
